Monitoring Software & the Bureau
With Sure-track MT2 we provide a 24 hour monitoring service using software written specifically for Sure-track MT2 units. The Bureau can be contacted at anytime to request information or get an up-to-date position on your plant machinery and equipment with the Sure-track MT2 installed (see also Web log-in below). The Bureau carries out daily checks during office hours to monitor the configuration messages sent to plant equipment, assets and machinery. If any of these checks suggest something may be wrong, or that it might not be working, you will be contacted immediately.
Alarms
The Sure-track MT2 has a number of different sensors to trigger an alarm to the bureau, the Bureau will then notify you, by SMS, of any alarms received. Alarm sensors include:
- Movement sensor: causes the Sure-track MT2 unit to alarm if it moves continuously. A time delay (default 16 seconds) can be set to reduce false alarms.
- Base plate (magnetic) sensor: causes the Sure-track MT2 unit to alarm as soon as the base plate is removed. This happens when a unit is removed from its asset, machinery or plant equipment.
- System (alarm) request: An 'Alarm On' message, sent remotely from the Bureau, will put the unit in alarm next time it wakes up (assuming unit is in GSM coverage).
- Low battery (counter) sensor: All Sure-track units notify the Bureau when a pre-set 'power consumption' threshold is reached. You will be contacted and advised that your Sure-track M2 unit needs to be returned for servicing (this includes a new battery).
- Port Watch: System can be configured so that a unit will alarm when vehicle or asset enters a pre-configured Port.
Sure-track MT2 Positioning
Each time a Sure-track MT2 unit wakes up it signs into Orange and records its position. Bureau Operators can view a map of the cell site (giving an approximate position usually between 8 and 500 metres depending upon the signal strength of the mast) showing where the Sure-track MT2 unit was when it last woke up. If further accuracy is required (in the case of a plant equipment or machinery being stolen, for example) a member of our finder network can pinpoint the Sure-track MT2 units location using a Radio Frequency (RF) receiver wand. Unlike previous technologies, the server retains a history of the units positions and a 'snail trail' can be produced of its positions.
Below is a screen shot of the bureau mapping software showing 'Snail Trail' markers on a journey from Kenilworth to and from Manchester:

Recording it’s position at each wake up, a snail trail can be produced showing those positions.

Notice that the cursor places the unit within, or very close to, the Motorway carriageway.
Web Login
Customers can be given a log in to the monitoring platform. This allows them to update the position of their Sure-track MT2 units and view install information for the asset or vehicle they are currently fitted to.
