How Sure-track MT2 works

GPRS/GSM/RF Stolen Asset Tracking Device

The Sure-track MT2 asset tracking unit is a small self-contained GPRS/ GSM/ RF asset tracking device used to assist the recovery of lost or stolen assets and vehicles such as plant equipment and machinery. There are several GSM tracking devices and RFID tracking devices on the market, but what makes the Sure-track MT2 different is that it combines the latest unique GSM based positioning technology with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to create a unique, covert security tracking product. The Sure-track MT2 represents the next generation of battery powered asset tracking devices.

Asset and Vehicle Tracking Solution

Sure-track MT2 is part on an overall asset and vehicle tracking solution consisting of the Sure-track MT2 unit itself, monitoring software system and the national recovery network.

Sure-track MT2 has an internal battery and spends much of its life in standby mode which ensures the battery lasts a long time (3 years on standard configuration in good coverage). Sure-track MT2 is programmed and controlled by text messages (SMS), working in the same way as your mobile phone. When your phone is switched off, any text messages sent to your phone are stored in the mobile network until your phone is switched back on again. Sure-track MT2 operates under the same principle.

GSM Tracking

The standing setting for a Sure-track MT2 unit is for it to be in standby mode for 10 hours and check for alarm messages every 100 minutes. Every 10 hours the Sure-track MT2 unit switches on and connects to the central network for just over 1 minute in order to check for activation instructions.

When an activation instruction is received, a signal is transmitted to the nearest GSM transmitter (phone mast). The GSM Network gives the SureTrack Monitoring Bureau an approximate location relative to that mast. This then allows the asset to be tracked via GSM to a macro location within the mobile phone network.

RF Detection and Recovery

Once the asset has been tracked to a macro location within the mobile network its' RF directional beacon enables Recovery teams, equipped with Radio Frequency detectors, to home in extremely accurately on the RF signal.

The 'Finder' tracks and locates the stolen asset and, when positively identified, calls the Police to assist.

This also means that valuable Police resources are only called upon when the 'asset' has been found.

This unique combination of GPRS/GSM/RF technology means that Sure-Track MT2 is self powered and has no (traceable) electrical connection to the asset.. Unlike other tracking devices it does not need an external antennae or to be mounted where it can see passing satellites, as is the case with GPS.

In short, Sure-Track MT2 can be fitted covertly into virtually any asset requiring protection.
