Managing Director, Ian Platt has a wealth of experience and expertise in the telecommunications and tracking industry.
Educated at Oldershaw Grammar School on Wirral, Merseyside he joined the Post Office (now B.T.) as an apprentice. He came out of his apprenticeship and rose to the position of Technical Officer in (Telephone) Exchange maintenance in Liverpool.
During his time as Technical Officer he attended college and night school where he attained a range of Telecommunications qualifications along with Higher National Certificates in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
Starting as an engineer in training Ian embarked upon a 21 year career with Plessey Telecoms where he completed 15 grade and in-grade promotions and reached the senior post of Business Planning Manager in the Customer Services Division.
As Business Planning Manager, he planned and oversaw the installation and commissioning of System X Digital Telephone Exchanges in the UK and Overseas. During this time Ian also attended the Ashridge Management Residential College where he gained business qualifications building upon his expertise in electronic and electrical engineering.
In 1992 he moved into the vehicle security business to promote an innovative and highly-effective gearlock called the Barrier Deadlock System. This system became a Ford Motor Company Part Number for Ford Transits and a General Motors Europe Part Number for Vauxhall. During this period Ian added an ISO 9002 Audit Certificate and Company Accreditation to his range of qualifications.
Ian was involved in the early inception of Thatcham, the Barrier Deadlock was on the very first product approved list published by Thatcham. Ian also became involved in Sold Secure and became an Autocrime Prevention Advisor with Cheshire Police. Ian's company became a Sold Secure Autocrime Prevention Centre.
In 1998, Ian developed a new business, Vehicle Security Installations Limited, which developed into a provider of a full range of car and commercial vehicle security, protection and finishing systems.
Ian sourced the Dipol Gearlock which is currently an International Motors Part Number for Subaru Impreza's. He also gained another Ford Motor Company Part Number for a Spare Wheel Lock again for Transits.
Nominated in 2006 for and accepted as, a Director of Knowsley (Merseyside) Business Watch and still sits on the board today. He has also worked closely with Liverpool and Knowsley Chambers of Commerce.
He became an I.A.A.T.I. Member in 2002 and was appointed to their Board as a Director in January 2008.
He has been involved with 'sting operations' with Merseyside and Essex Police and Cheshire Police, he has personally recovered some £150,000 worth of stolen plant and equipment using Sure-track's sophisticated technology and Bureau skills.
Ian set up Automotion Security Ltd in March 2005 to focus purely on stolen asset tracking.
